Cuban Cigars – Fake Or The Real Thing?

January 26th, 2009

miami-cigar-band-on-duma.jpgEveryone knows that Cuban cigars are the most coveted cigars, renown worldwide for their smoothness and rich flavors.  Indeed, Cuban cigars are so prized that many illegitimate dealers have been known to sell fake Cubans to unsuspecting cigar smokers.  How do you tell if what you have is a fake or the real thing?  First, make certain that you purchase your cigars from a legitimate dealer.  Buying from your local tobacconist or a reputable mail order business can protect you from forking your money over for a box of fake cigars.

If you have an opportunity to purchase a box of purported Cuban cigars, but have your doubts, take the time to examine the box before purchasing it.  Here are a few tips to help you spot the fakes from the real thing.

The most important thing to examine is the box.  Authentic Cuban cigars will contain a green and white warranty seal on the left front side of the box.  The seal will contain an insignia that has a picture of a shield and a hat.  On the upper right hand corner of the box, you should find a white sticker that is placed diagonally with the word ‘Habanos’ printed on it.  The overall appearance of the box should be neat and clean.  If the box appears damaged, smudged, frayed, or marked, avoid it.  If the color of the box is dull, don’t buy it.  Even if the cigars are the real things, their quality may have suffered in transport.  If you are in the market for Cohiba, Trinidad, or Q’dorsay brand cigars, know that all authentic Cohiba’s will contain the green and white warranty seal on the right hand side of the box.

January 22nd, 2009

Barack Obama, the newly elected US President appeared in the White House with his wife to met Mr. George Bush. It was a meet organized for the official transfer of the power after Obama won the election a week before. Mr. & Mrs. Obama who were initially greeted by Bush and his wife, Laura toured the White House for 90 minutes. The cameras kept on clicking uninterruptedly. Obama proceeded towards the Oval Office accompanied by Bush. Obama, in spite of serving tenure of four years as a senator had never been to the Oval Office previously.

The transfer of power took place and the matter related to economic progress and security measures were primarily discussed. Obama even thanked Bush for his commitment and Laura Bush for the hospitality at the White House.

Bush is trying hard to wind up couple of controversial issues before he retires officially. On the other hand, Obama is trying to unwind issues related environmental protections and research in medical fields, which were raised during the era of Bush. Thus you can notice an underground tension between them.

The Earth Is Boiling

January 19th, 2009

2008 was considered as the eighth warmest year of Earth. The eighth position is actually shared by both the year 2008 and 2001. It was calculated on the basis of combined temperature of ocean and land across the globe. NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center situated at Asheville has generated this report. The month of December was selected as the eight warmest in the universe. The calculation has been based on the records preserved since 1880.

The preliminary data collected at several places is the main source of this report by NCDS though it can be revised anytime at their discretion. The report took some extra time to arrive and extra precautions were taken to preserve the data carefully. The new scientific techniques used by NCDC have resulted in this delay.

The Goddard Institute for Space Studies of NASA has even ranked the year 2008 as the 9th warmest year based on its calculation. The data used by NASA and NOAA vary a bit but the Federal Government has accepted the fact that our environment is deteriorating constantly. Only if we react now, we will be able to protect our future.

Blu-ray Disks Are Not Even Entirely Safe

January 17th, 2009

There was a report of blu-ray being hacked recently though it has been un-hacked now. The blu-ray disk of the movie Jumper was protected with recently updated BD+ secondary layer of blu-ray as reported by ArsTechnica. It was secure for a week but after that a cracking application flooded the market, which helped in cracking the security measure of the disk.

ArsTechnica stated that even on temporary basis BD+ can be re-secured. But a lot of questions were raised related to the future distribution of data. The DRM technology is used to abolish content theft, if not then make the theft more difficult. The DRM is regularly updated so that companies like Slysoft find it difficult to target in cracking the code. The economic battle on both sides can be own or at least settled with the help of this dynamic system. If you are planning to make a studio, you should have all the money and time to regularly update DRM and thus protect your data from being stolen. On the other hand, Stylos should give more effort in breaking the code of every new version that is released. The company regularly reviews the launch of new version.

How To Reduce The Burden Of Credit Card Dues?

January 4th, 2009

Most of us use credit cards and sometimes we fail to make the payments on time. But if this habit continues, sooner we will be buried under the huge burden of financial debt. If you follow some simple steps, you will be able to manage your credit card dues in a better way.

Most importantly, never spend more than what you can pay. The income and spending ratio should be around 3:1. Now suppose you have already spent a lump sum amount on your credit card and the burden is on your shoulder. What should you do? Reduce all of your expenses as much as you can. As soon as you get your pay check, clear off the dues of that month instantly. Do not wait for the due date to come. Try to pay at least 3 to 4 times more than the minimum payment required.  You can also go for a balance transfer. Transfer the balance from your low-interest credit card to the high-interest credit card. In this way you will be able to reduce some of your financial burden.

Credit cards are very handy and play a great deal in times of emergencies. If you can use it efficient, your financial status will become rock steady.
